U16s County Cup Win

EG Town Under 16’s made it 3 wins from 4 in their county cup tie against league one rivals Premier United.

The Wasps played some outstanding football first half with Man of the matches Will Speak tormenting Premier from left back and Matt Marshalls outstanding ball play from the middle of the park.

Harvey Burgess opened the scoring after 19 mins.  Quick play down the right between Ben Knight and Debutant Dan Tewogbade presented Burgess with the opportunity at the edge of the box which he calmly slotted into the bottom corner.

Debut Boy Dan Tewogbade then grabbed his first for the club, superb team play getting to the box before Tewogbade’s persistence paid off slotting home from close range to ensure a 2-0 Half Time advantage.

Two goals in the opening 7 mins of the 2nd half from Harvey Burgess – one from the penalty spot, the other coolly finished from 10 yards for is third hat-trick in 4 games.

Just 2 mins after EG Town had made it 4-0, Premier responded.  A ball from deep down the right hand side saw their central midfield who ran from deep head from 12 yards.  Wasps keeper Riley Taylor made and excellent save but the rebound was put away for 4-1. 

Just after the hour Harvey Burgess got his 4th of the game and his 10th of the season wrapping up proceedings 5-1 in a competent display and passage to the County Cup 2nd Round where we will host Marle Place Rangers

The under 16’s move on to an away league game this Sunday at Haywards Heath.
