East Grinstead Town U16s end pre-season with 2 good wins

East Grinstead Town U16’s end pre-season with 2 good wins

East Grinstead Town Under 16’s brought the curtain down on their pre-season with 2 outstanding performances.

First up was Friday 30th with an 8-1 home win over Withdean.  First half saw EG Town keep the ball for large periods, however it was Withdean that broke the deadlock when EG Town were caught on the ball at the back to which the Withdean striker capitalised to give the visitors the advantage.

The lead was short lived as Harvey Burgess escaped his marker and coolly finished one on one in off the cross bar for the equaliser.  Ben Knight then finished a well worked move from RG town just before the break as the home side headed into the interval with a 2-1 advantage.

Second half saw a hugely impressive display from EG Town dominating possession before Harvey Burgess struck twice more to complete his Hat-Trick as to did Ben Knight.  Rohith Jose completed a brace to complete an emphatic score line.

Sunday 1st saw EG Town u16’s travel to a very dangerous and capable Rustington Otters side – Once again EG Town were at the races and dominated huge sections of the game.  Harvey Burgess opened the scoring after 4 mins after a through ball from Will Speak saw the striker finish clinically on his left foot.  Harvey Burgess then doubled his tally from the pen spot.  EG Town wasted the opportunity to add from the penalty spot again when Rohith Jose blazed over the bar which was otherwise a blip on an outstanding performance from the skilful midfielder.  Rustington struck back when a backpass from an EG Town free kick was pounced upon by a very grateful Rustington Striker.  Just before the break Ben Knight added a third with a header from 8 yards getting on the end of a fantastic cross from Harvey Burgess.

2nd half was much of the same with EG Town dominating possession and always looking the more likely.  Harvey Burgess completed his second hat trick in 3 days 8 mins into the 2nd half with a clinical finish from 10 yards which is how the tie finished 4-1 to EG Town.

Both games saw glowing performances throughout the squad and the Under 16’s now turn their attention to the start of their league campaign which starts on Wednesday 11th Sept 19:15 ko at the GAC Stadium where they host Haywards Heath Town in their league opener.
