The Reid Report: Post Hythe Town

Good evening and welcome to the players, management and staff from Cray
Valley. They had a really good result on Saturday and are going well in the league, so we will have to work hard again for any reward.

Saturday's result was obviously disappointing. I didn't think there was a lot to choose between the teams, we tended to cancel each other out if I'm being honest. If we'd scored in the first half when we were on top I think we would have built from that.
I know a few people were unhappy with their penalty but there's not a lot you can
do once the referee makes his decision. It was always likely that a set-piece or
something would settle the game and it went in their favour.

As I said on Saturday before the Hythe game we are still a work in progress. In
terms of the squad I think we are now a couple of players away from being where
I want us to be. If we can get those lads through the door I'm confident we will have a squad which can compete in this league. We have only played four League games and it's been a bit stop-start with two free Saturdays already and one more to come after the game at Faversham on Saturday. Is that a good thing? Probably, because it gives us more time to bring in the players we need and integrate them on the training pitch,
without the added pressure of points on the line.

I caught the end of the under-23s game against Faversham on Tuesday and I was

impressed with how we played, having lost our goalkeeper to a red card midway through the first half.
We were 1-0 up at the time, quickly went 2-1 down with an outfield player in goal
but we deservedly equalised in the second half and could easily have won.
We certainly would have with 11 players. I'd like to congratulate Grant and Andy for
their hard work with the boys so far, there are several who I am sure will be involved
with the first team this season, which bodes well for the future.
So, to reiterate, stay patient and I am confident we can build a squad everyone
can be proud of.

Good luck to us! COYW!
