Club Statement - Isthmian League Immediate Ending

East Grinstead Town FC Statment on Immediate End of this Isthmian League Season

Yesterday, the FA announced that “the 2019/20 season for Steps 3 to 6 will be ended with immediate effect and all results will be expunged. This will mean no promotion or relegation of clubs between Steps 3 to 6, or relegation from Step 2.”  For clarity, East Grinstead Town are in the Isthmian League South East Division which is Step 4 in the National League System.

The FA statement went on to say: “Furthermore, we can now confirm that we have decided that all grassroots football is concluded for the 2019-20 season. This will allow the game to move forward and to commence planning for next season. Our County Football Associations (CFAs) will be supporting grassroots leagues over the coming days to determine how they should close out their current competitions.”

This is obviously good news for the club. It has been a difficult season on the pitch but Leigh Dynan and his staff and squad were starting to make progress when the season came to an end. We now have the chance to rebuild and look forward to a seventh season at this level, no mean achievement for our club.

The Mid Sussex Youth Leagues have also abandoned the season in full (which two of our U16s and our U15s compete in).

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our players, management, supporters, and volunteers for all of their incredible efforts this season. We now have the opportunity to take the club forward once we are playing again.

We would also like to take this opportunity to register our immeasurable appreciation to everyone in the NHS for their total commitment to helping the nation in these unprecedented times.

Please stay home, stay safe, save lives and look after those who are most vulnerable
