Matt talks Herne Bay / Nations Favourite Fans

Firstly I would like to say a massive thank you to all of the people that worked so hard over the last week - 10 days to help set up a great day for the club and it’s community, not least Richard who wore many hats during the week and was literally at the club night and day most days last week. Other massive thank you's have to go to the great support we had on the day, and hopefully a few of you will return after seeing us play, Richmond foods, for what was a unbelievable day at this level of football it really was amazingly done. Also a massive thanks to Michael Phillips for winning the competition, and the loyal fans that come every week. I want to thank you massively for being on this journey with us and hopefully we can continue to progress on and off the pitch. A big thanks also to the youth section that helped on the day and again helped make it a great occasion for all.

The last thanks is for Hayley McQueen and Harry Redknapp who although obviously working for Richmond foods were so down to earth and genuinely supportive of the club and the event, having Harry in the changing room before the game was an amazing experience for all of us. His comments at half time and full time about the team and how we played were extremely positive and it’s great to hear such feedback from someone who’s held is such high regard in the game.

I felt we really controlled most of the game and had it not been for a very harsh red card early on for our goal keeper I believe we would of won the game, with their keeper playing very well to prevent that from happening, I thought we played some really good football on the day and showed a great work ethic playing with ten men for so long, so credit to the players for that.

All in all it was a great day and for us as a club it was a great way to put ourselves on the map in the community again, everyone involved should be proud to be part of the day and hopefully get involved on a regular basis.

Our next home game is against Hythe Town, so let’s see how many we can get back down to watch us again as your support really makes a difference.

Thanks again

Matt
