Matt's thoughts and preview of Bognor Regis

Saturday was disappointing again we have ended up with only a point from a leading position and second half where much the better team, I felt their goalkeeper should have been sent off early in the first half and obviously that could of had an impact on the game. However that said we have conceded too many goals this season and to score four at home and not win isn't good enough in all honesty, especially with two from set pieces and one from our own set piece. Teams are not cutting us open but we are making too many errors.

All that said we have only lost once in five games and that was to the champions elect in Cray Wanderers, so we must look at the positives. We still have a young squad of players and they are learning all the time. We are dominating possession in most games and now have to work hard at concentrating for longer periods and just doing the basics better. If we can do that we can push on but it needs to happen.

Tonight we play Bognor in the Sussex Senior Cup which is a great chance to go and play a big club on a great pitch against a team that will pass the ball. We played Bognor a few years back when I first took over so I'm keen to see where we have come over those years, but its a tough challenge with them sitting in and around the play offs in the league above having just been relegated, so we expect to be in for a very tough night but its a chance to play with no fear and go and enjoy the evening and see where it takes us.

We will tonight see two of the under 18s in the squad for the first time this season with Andy Pead (goal keeper), and Paul Finney (defender) involved its vital for us as a club to be producing players and these are the first two of many that I expect to see involved from Bob Wallis' squad of exciting players.

We have seen over recent weeks a few of our young players at the club become part of the Sussex county league squads and this all bodes well for the future. The more home grown players the better players have an affiinity to the club and understand the values which are key to the ongoing success.

Myself, the staff and players are very much looking forward to this evening and hope to see as many of you there as possible, its the furthest the club has been in the competition and we are aiming at doing even better still regardless of how hard that task may be.

Thanks again for your continued support, see you this evening
