Loan Signing News - He's Back! and Whitstable Preview

marcus1

I am delighted to welcome back former player of the year and top goal scorer Marcus Elliott on loan until the end of the season from Lewes and want to thank Darren (and Lewes) for their help with this. Marcus is obviously well known to myself the players, staff and supporters and needs no major introduction and this gives us a real potent strike force now.

With Orlando still out injured longer than hoped, we felt we wanted to add to the squad in that area and we now have Greg Cundle, Matt Day, George Landais, Marcus Elliott as well as Orlando to return after injury that all play in those areas as well as Leo Mazzone as and when required.

We must now look to change our defensive fortunes and this is something I’m looking at over the next week or so, not only in training but also in terms of possible recruitment to strengthen in that area, as our goals against record isn’t good enough and is something we must improve on if we are to gain some consistency. The players are well aware of this and we shall be on the training ground this evening doing some work on it.

Whitstable on saturday is one of the toughest away games of the season. They have a very experienced manager and players and there is never an easy game down there. We know what to expect from them and it will be difficult to combat what they do, but we must implement our game and look to try and get on the front foot. Saturday's match against Hayward’s Heath should of stood us in good stead for this week with very similar styles of play and hopefully we can learn from our mistakes last Saturday and take them into this weeks game.

I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible .

Happy New Year - let’s hope we start with a win.

Matt
